intro

* in part 01 of the blogpost, I was trying to cover this development as it was happening

* since the publication of part 01, some 23 days have passed

closing this particular loop

* focusing on my personal priorities, I haven't had a lot of time to think about this issue in a structured format and in earnest

* separately, the youtubers that travel the world offer us an opportunity to peek into different cultures and as they exist today. but given the interconnected nature of things, there is, off-course the possibility that that very realm can also be manipulated. this is one of the unintended (perhaps intended) consequences of the information age. the attention economy in all of it's good, bad and ugly ways is real

* coming back to the topic, generally speaking and at this point, my thinking is that most humans are the same and largely speaking, almost all of us want the same things in life

* however, we do have very different world-views (a topic that I have blogged about here and these very world-views enabled a different reality for us. it is to note that these different realities are enabled in the same shared dimensions of space time. which has both negative and also positive outcomes for all of life that shares these dimensions. as well, the risks and if you choose to measure them objectively are also real

* coming back to the topic and the debacle that had started last month. as of right now, the US military is still deploying and using technology provided by anthropic. this, even after the organization was labelled as a supply-chain risk

* the wider discussion is that of autonomous weapons. cyber-security from my limited vantage point is the defender having to defend against all the threats. which, over time means that not only that dangerous technologies get leaked, but that the consolidation of virtually all realms (money, governance, surveillance, cyber command e.t.c) creates not only a much more unstable world. but from my limited vantage point and this is not a statement that is backed by mathematics. but what has been going on, creates a potential situation where something could go catastrophically wrong. either for the human civilization and/or the continuity of the human species.

* what the ill-thought through deployment of autonomous weapons is possibly doing and will be doing is destroying reputations and lives. they will also results into accidents and tragedies. and I have yet to read the works of peter senge, but the consolidation and bad-design (ill-thought through) will breed discontent. that discontent will further lead to schsims

* please note, I don't have any personal feelings or personal agenda here. eventually and with the leaks and intrusions happening all the time, what will happen is that these very weapons could be and most likely will be turned against oneself. this can happen in a whole variety of ways and it can happen suddenly (with AGI e.t.c) or slowly (an enemy or adversary can enact change slowly and in a sun tzu sense)

* autonomous weapons, the consolidation of stuff (shared above), automation of the workforce (machine can now do the work and work is increasingly going to be optional) and then climate-change (including the potential of rapid climate-change) and other factors. I am not trained in either mathematics and nor am I trained in the rigorous application of math towards risk management and within reason). to me, the developments and as they appear are beginning to look like the convergence of risks

* if you are reading this, I encourage you to educate yourself on these topics and get engaged politically

* the last time we lost democracy was from the time of the ancient greeks and till the formation of the United States as an institution

* when you lose democracy, you lose your ability to be able to question the establishment and within reason to, speak your mind. and in most ways, you become indispensable. and with autonomous weapons a lot of really horrible things could happen. to the individual and to the human society at large
